2012 June - repairing the Vespa

At the end of last year I bought a wrecked Vespa 250GTS.  It was a log cheaper than new and really only had the dent in the rear fender.  I punched out the dent as much as I could, but even that was difficult because of the monocoque chasis.  Bondo here we go.

Scuff ing and getting rid of the poor repair attempt (probably with interior latex black paint)

Bondo

Paint that I got from a vespa dealer was much more gray than it should have been.  Sprayed with my new Fuji Semi-Pro 2 HVLP.  Let's of wet sanding...

After final coat of 2 part epoxy clear coat - let's of polishing coming up.

2012 Apr: Business trip to Penang

As part of a business trip, went to Penang, Malaysia for about 10 days.  Quite a long trip getting there and back, but we got 2 weekends to explore.  Sarah look leave and joined.

Random corner of the Singapore airport.  Many of the random corners had hundreds of live orchids like this.

One of many temples in Georgetown.

A trip to a tropical fruit farm was actually really interesting.

Then a very touristy butterfly farm.

I swim....

The spice garden was one of my favorite stops, really neat stuff and history.

Kek Lok Si - a blinged out temple.  (Neon lights around just about everything - not shown)

Mmmmm.  Banana leaf.

Monkey beach - random spot of sand where tiny shells washed up.

Monkeys that tried to attack Sarah.

2012-May - What's going on around the Tran house

A bunch of orchids in bloom in the greenhouse.  Reaping some of the benefits of David's care for years of these plants.

In 2011 we planted some grapes and then some strawberries rescued from the community plot we had at Intel.  The strawberries took off this spring after looking nearly dead at the end of 2011.  The wood path/dock is from salvaged cedar (used on 3 different projects), ipe (rescued twice) and even the screws!
